Jungle Expedition

Join us deep into the Amazon rainforest and become part of a unique expedition that connects science with adventure. You will embark on a journey to one of the most diverse regions in the world, led by experienced guides and experts.

Person in the jungle by a stream

My stay in Ecuador deeply moved me and changed my life. I love the wilderness, but also street art and music — and Ecuador offers all of that. During the stay I found myself again, my strength, health, and wonderful friendships with kindred spirits. Thank you so much for the great organization and the time spent together in peace and fun. I am so grateful I made this journey.

What will we work on?

You will spend three intense weeks in the heart of the Amazon wilderness. You will participate in various projects based on the current needs of the area and the weather. Everything we do together here contributes to the real protection of one of the planet's most valuable ecosystems.

You will prepare deforested land for subsequent reforestation.

You will join in the transportation and planting of seedlings.

Will you help with cleaning and marking trails in the jungle.

You will learn to work with camera traps – their installation and evaluating the recordings.

You can help us build and maintain our forest station – woodwork, improving the cabin and more...

The adventure begins

It's not just about conservation; we will also plan several local trips. Just like the conservation-work, the specifics of these trips vary depending on their availability and your interests. We anticipate enjoying many of the following experiences with you:

We will visit the sacred waterfalls.

We will go hiking in the rainforest and learn about the life it sustains.

We will visit indigenous communities and listen to the legends and spells that the rainforests still hide.

We will explore the local caves and discover hidden underground spaces.

We will get acquainted with traditional healing herbs and treatments.

We will visit local eco-entrepreneurs producing guayusa and cacao

If we had to share one piece of advice with explorers, it would be to keep an open mind and a sense of adventure. The second piece of advice would be to pack light.

How much will this adventure cost?

We designed these trips to be as affordable as possible: We want to give the largest number of explorers the opportunity to sustainably help care for the rainforest and to create a personal connection with this untouched nature.

Celková cena za pobyt je 1000 USD

The price includes:

Food

Accommodation

Transportation in Ecuador during the trip

The costs of trips (visiting the Shuar community or a trip to the caves, etc.)

Price EXCLUDES:

Your flights or transport to Ecuador

Transport between the airport where you land and Gualaquiza

Travel insurance

How can we get there?

The expedition will take place near the town of Gualaquiza, in the rainforest at our El Refugio station and on adjacent land that we have already purchased with our sister organization Bosque Medicinal. The bus journey from the nearest international airports is long, so please plan accordingly with breaks.

Flights:

You are responsible for booking your own flights. We recommend flying to Guayaquil, as the airport often has more convenient connections and is cheaper than flying to Cuenca, which is technically closer. Quito is much further north and we do not recommend flying there.

Bus:

Once you land in Guayaquil, take a taxi to the nearby bus terminal and then take a bus either to the city of Cuenca, where you will stay at Hotel Orquídea and our group coordinator will pick you up. Alternatively, you can travel directly to Gualaquiza on your own and stay at Hostel El Paraíso, for example.

We will do everything we can to help you with your travel plans. Please contact us well in advance! If you are hesitant...

We would be happy to arrange a short, no-obligation call to discuss whether this trip is right for you.
